PURPOSE: A method for expansively displaying thumbnail pictures in an optical disk device is provided to expansively display a random thumbnail picture to which a cursor is moved, more largely than other thumbnail pictures, thereby more easily distinguishing the expanded thumbnail picture, so that a user can more exactly confirm an image of the displayed picture. CONSTITUTION: A microcomputer outputs thumbnail pictures(S10). If a user requests a cursor movement(S11), the microcomputer moves a cursor overlapped with the first thumbnail picture to the second thumbnail picture(S13). If the user requests a reproduction process while the cursor is located in the second thumbnail picture(S16), the microcomputer retrieves navigation information stored in a memory to confirm a start recording position of the second program corresponding to the second thumbnail picture, and carries out a normal reproduction process from the start recording position(S17).
