PURPOSE: An array substrate for a liquid crystal display device and a method for fabricating the same are provided to prevent the damage of gate electrodes when laser activation after impurity implantation by forming the gate electrodes with silicon and forming gate wires with a metal material. CONSTITUTION: An array substrate for a liquid crystal display device includes a substrate, an active layer(121) formed of poly crystal silicon on the substrate, source and drain areas(122,123) formed of impurity-doped poly crystal silicon at both sides of the active layer, a gate insulating film on the active layer, gate electrodes(141,142) formed of poly crystal silicon on the gate insulating film, an interlayer insulating film covering the gate electrodes and having first to third contact holes(151-153) for exposing the source/drain areas and the gate electrodes, a plurality of gate wires(165) extending in a first direction on the interlayer insulating film and connected to the gate electrodes via the third contact holes, data wires(161) extending in a second direction on the interlayer insulating film and contacting the source areas via the first contact holes, a protecting layer covering the data wires and having fourth contact holes(171) on the second contact holes, and pixel electrodes(181) formed of a transparent conductive material on the protecting film and connected to the drain areas via the second and fourth contact holes.
