Mammalian fetal insulin-like growth factor II (IGF-II) antisense oligonucleotide sequences and methods to ihibit metastasis of tumor cells

Antisense oligonucleotide of less than 100 nucleotides comprising a sequence complementary to at least 7 contiguous nucleotides of a 5'-untranslated region of exons 4, 5 or 6 of a mammalian fetal IGF-II mRNA, which inhibits IGF-II expression, are described. Pharmaceutical composition can contain the oligonucleotide or a vector comprising the oligonucleotide and are useful for inhibiting the growth and metastasis of cancer cells and for treating cancer. In vitro methods and methods of treating non-human animals comprising administrating the oligonucleotide are also described. The oligonucleotide may be used in conjunction with a further chemotherapeutic drug.
