PURPOSE: A cDNA of Sebastes schlegeli IGF-I and a protein encoded by the same cDNA are provided, thereby producing a large quantity of Sebastes schlegeli IGF-I(insulin-like growth-factor-I), so that biological function of Sebastes schlegeli IGF-I can be effectively and accurately studied, and producing a large quantity of high quality Sebastes schlegeli. CONSTITUTION: The cDNA of Sebastes schlegeli IGF-I is provided, wherein the cDNA of Sebastes schlegeli IGF-I is investigated by using PCR and RACE. The protein encoded by the cDNA of Sebastes schlegeli IGF-I is produced by cloning the cDNA of Sebastes schlegeli IGF-I into an expression vector pET 22b(+), transforming Escherichia coli BL21(DE3) with the expression vector pET 22b(+) containing the cDNA of Sebastes schlegeli IGF-I, and culturing the transformed Escherichia coli BL21(DE3) in a medium, wherein the recombinant IGF-I has (3H) thymidine incorporation stimulation activity.
