A lipid/polymer-containing pharmaceutical composition comprises: - (a) A biodegradable microsphere having a matrix, the matrix comprised of at least one type of biodegradable polymer and at least one type of lipid; and (b) A physiologically active substance that is releasable from the biodegradable microsphere.
