PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an acetabular prosthesis for a hip joint that is inserted into a bone cavity of the natural acetabulum and to provide the acetabular prosthesis that provides a large range of motion with respect to a femoral side ball and suppresses the occurrence of impingement, and subluxation and dislocation of the femoral ball from an acetabular insert. SOLUTION: The acetabular prosthesis consists of a shell, an articulating component and a constraining component. The articulating component has a hemispherical or dome shape that defines a hemispherical cavity for receiving the femoral ball of a femoral hip stem. The constraining component has a main body that connects to the articulating component to capture the femoral ball within the cavity of the articulating component.
