The plate heat exchanger, e.g. a transmission oil cooler, consists of a block of plates, with alternating flow channels (11) for a first fluid and a second fluid. The quadratic block has four endfaces with input (7) and output apertures for the fluids, and top and bottom closing plates (4, 5). At least one endface is in the form of a flat sealing and connecting surface (6) with the input and/or output aperture inside it.
