Chlorobenzyl phosphorus esters - fungicides bactericides insecticides and herbicides

The title cpds. are of formula (I): where A = CH3O or CH3; m = 0, 1 or 2; n = 1-5; X and Y = O or S; R = C1-6 alkyl. They are particular use in the treatment of rice to combat Piricularia oryzae. They are prepd. by the reaction of a chlorobenzyl halide with a metal or ammonium salt of the appropriate phosphorus ester.
