<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ferromagnetic metal powder having an excellent reserving stability and to provide a magnetic recording medium having the excellent in electromagnetic converting characteristic of a high output power and a high S/N. <P>SOLUTION: The ferromagnetic metal powder is the one having a surface oxide film whose main component is iron. The phase ratio of the surface oxide film to the ferromagnetic metal powder is 50-60 %, and the surface oxide film contains the crystal of α-Fe<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>the size of whose crystal element is 2-3.5 nm. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
