PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily change the position of a pressor foot portion in a sewing machine that can be operated in a standing posture. SOLUTION: The sewing machine has the pressor foot portion moving means for moving a pressor foot position to a withdrawal position in which the pressor foot portion withdraws above a cloth retaining plate, a pressor foot position in which the pressor foot portion supports a cloth on the top face of the cloth holding plate and an intermediate position between the withdrawal position and the pressor foot position, and a position selection input means for performing the operation to select the position of the pressor foot portion by moving the pressor foot portion moving means. Every time when the position selection input means is operated, the position of the pressor foot portion is changed alternately to the intermediate position and the pressor foot position on the basis of the control of the action by a movement control means.
