PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for readily and inexpensively producing sorbic alcohol in an industrial scale. SOLUTION: It is found that microorganisms belonging to the genuses of Verticillium, Beauver, Mucor, Rhizopus and Hypocrea have excellent abilities for producing the sorbic alcohol.
