PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-voltage variable resistor that is improved in quality to such a degree that, even when thermal shocks etc., are applied to the resistor, no crack occurs in a resin and, in addition, can be reduced in cost by reducing the used amount of an insulating resin for packing at the time of manufacturing the resistor. SOLUTION: The high-voltage variable resistor has a front case 2 made of an insulating resin and a back case 3 fitted to the front case 2 and made of the insulating resin. In the front case 2, a circuit board 10 is housed and, at the same time, a slider 4 is provided which is brought into contact with a resistor formed on the circuit board 10 in a slidable state. On the back case 3, in addition, a capacitor housing 3d which houses a capacitor 5 and terminal guides 3e into which external connecting terminals 8 are inserted are integrally formed.
