PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problem of a conventional POS terminal: enhancement of fault tolerance causes complication and increase of cost. SOLUTION: In an all-in-one integrated POS terminal 31, communication with a server is performed via a wireless LAN. Though commercial power is used as a power source, a battery 43 is loaded to also allow operation by the battery. Hardware comprises a Java (R) processor 32 to realize simplification and miniaturization. A failure rate is reduced by disuse of a mechanical component such as an HDD or a cooling fan. A POS application also uses the Java (R) language to realize portability and a fault-tolerant function.
