PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device which assures stable fixability by preventing the wrapping of a transfer material around a pressure roller and the folding and curling of its tip and an image forming apparatus mounted therewith. SOLUTION: The fixing device which is constituted of a heating roller having a heat resistant layer composed of an elastic body and the pressure roller, holds the transfer material carrying a toner image by a nip section of both rollers, fixes the toner image by heating and pressurizing and discharges the transfer material by a fixed paper discharge roller is furnished with a conveyance guide means which is set to an upwardly convex nip shape between both the rollers, conveys the transfer material of a size A4 by transverse feed and extends to the nearest contact point or contact point with the pressure roller with an inclination of 10 to 50°around (b) of a line connecting (a) and (b) as a reference line when the outlet of the nip section on the paper discharge side is defined as (a) and the tip of the transfer material as (b) at the time the transfer material stops in the state of being discharged at one-third the transfer material from the nip section.
