PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively achieve a nuclear fusion ignition on a high density plasma, in an inertia confinement nuclear fusion. SOLUTION: A laser beam, an electron beam, an ion beam or the like is projected on a spherical target containing a hydrogen isotope such as deuterated polyethylene to implode the target and create a high density plasma. An ion beam of an ion isotope having a mass number the same as the mass number of the hydrogen isotope in the plasma is projected on the high density plasma to raise the ion temperature of hydrogen isotope ions in the high density plasma. A nuclear fusion reaction of the hydrogen isotopes with each other is ignited by raising the ion temperature to a temperature of one hundred million degrees or higher. Energy not less than energy inputted can be outputted by the nuclear fusion reaction through further propagation of the nuclear fusion reaction. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
