PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a short wavelength, high power optical isolator which is small and lightweight and whose characteristics are not degraded and whose long term stability is not impaired by suppressing a rise in temperature even when the light absorption of a Faraday rotator is large, and the isolator is used under the condition that the intensity of incident light is large. SOLUTION: The short wavelength, high power optical isolator is configured so that a magnet is arranged in the vicinity of the Faraday rotator, at least two polarizers are arranged on both sides of the Faraday rotator, at least one of the polarizers is fixed to a polarizer holder, the Faraday rotator is fixed to a heat sink consisting of a material whose thermal conductivity is≥200 W/(mK) at a face other than a part through which an optical signal passes, and at least part of the heat sink is fixed to the magnet or the polarizer holder.
