The controller (18) of a DVD+RW drive (1) controls the DVD+RW drive (1) to record data on a DVD+RW disc (19) in a DVD+RW video recording format standardized by DVD+RW alliance and to record, when recording the data, identification information, indicating data recording based on CGMS, i.e. a system for controlling reproduction of data, or CPRM, i.e. an encryption system, in a specified area of the DVD+RW video recording format so that the DVD+RW disc deals with the CGMS and CPRM.
