<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the applicability to the transmission of a front-wheel-drive vehicle with a horizontal engine by allowing a reduction in the axial length of gear trains while using two or three sets of planetary gears for producing a shift ratio with forwarding six or seven stages. <P>SOLUTION: A first planetary gear set 14 and a second planetary gear set 16 provided on an output shaft 12 each have a second carrier 28 connected to the output shaft 12. A second sun gear 30 is connected to a first sun gear 20 and can be fixed to a case 52. A first ring gear 22 can be driven through an input shaft 10 to slow down in at least a first shift ratio. A first carrier 28 is connected to a second ring gear 32 and can be fixed to the case 52 and driven through the input shaft 10 in a second shift ratio smaller than the first shift ratio. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
