PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connection device between a column and a horizontal member, which is suited for replacing work of an existing column. SOLUTION: According to the structure of the connection device, the horizontal member 2 and a sill 1 have mortices 6, 7 formed therein, respectively, and the column 3 has engaging holes 10, 11 formed in upper and lower edges thereof at locations corresponding to the mortices 6, 7, respectively, followed by inserting partially engageable tenons 4, 5 into front end sides of the mortices 6, 7, respectively. Then the tenons 4, 5 have through holes 12, 13 formed in the front end sides thereof at locations corresponding to insertion holes 8, 9 formed in connection rods 26, respectively, which insertion holes are formed in the horizontal member 2 etc. in a manner crossing the mortices, respectively. Further the tenons have through holes 14, 15 formed in rear end sides thereof at locations corresponding to insertion holes 16, 17 formed in the connection rods 26, respectively, which insertion holes are formed in a manner crossing the mortices, respectively. Further both ends of the respective operating strings 20, 21 penetrated through the tenons 4, 5 are taken out of the engaging holes 10, 11, and then taken via the edges of the column 3 to the outside.
