The new shaft-hub connection has downward compatibility, in other words the hubs built according to the new shaft-hub connection design must be fittable on old or conventional shaft-hub systems with standard cylindrical shafts, but the shaft built according to the new shaft-hub connection design should not accommodate the conventional hubs with concentric cylindrical bores. The outer contour of the new shaft should not be concentric, and this may be achieved by the forming of three different heights of cams alternating between 60 degree concentric sections.
