PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method for providing positional information capable of providing the positional information through a data burst message so that a user can use the positional information without accessing the wireless Internet using a mobile communication terminal. SOLUTION: The method includes: a step of searching for positional information on the relevant terminal, when a positional information service for a user of a mobile communication terminal subscribed to the positional information service is requested in a positional information server with positional information on a predetermined mobile communication terminal; transferring the searched positional information to a short message service center; and generating the data burst message using the positional information received from the short message service center, and transferring the generated data burst message to the mobile communication terminal.
