PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain index data by which index information according to various ideas, etc. is provided to a user, etc., a recording medium in which the index data is recorded, an index data creation device, a creation method, a video reproducing device, a video reproduction method and a program. SOLUTION: The index data has a plurality of index information groups G1 to G5. The index information groups G1 to G5 have pieces of index information corresponding to parts where moving image contents are divided at different time intervals (120 seconds, 60 seconds, 30 seconds, 15 seconds and 7.5 seconds), respectively. The image data of the leading frame of corresponding parts, etc. are included in the index information. The pieces of index information (image), etc. corresponding to the part divided at various time intervals are obtained and pieces of the index information conforming to the various ideas are provided by utilizing such index data.
