PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for managing print quantity in which the quantity of unit slips being printed on a stripe printed matter can be managed easily without using any special apparatus and without limiting a printed matter being managed to a postage stamp, a stamp, or the like. SOLUTION: The print quantity management system 10 comprises rolls 12 and 13 for winding a stripe printed matter 11 being fed, a number printer 14 for printing a sequence number on each unit slip, e.g. a certificate stamp, from the surface of the stripe printed matter 11, a number printer 15 for printing a sequence number on each unit slip from the rear surface of the stripe printed matter 11 at a position difference from that of the number printer 14, and a controller 16 for controlling the number printers 14 and 15. If the numbers on the surface and rear of the stripe printed matter 11 from a start unit slip 11S to an end unit slip 11E are "1000" and "0999", respectively, after printing, a decision can be made that some part of the printer has failed and the cause thereof can be verified.
