PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress variations in object detectable ranges of ultrasonic sensors with a calculation function in a periphery monitoring apparatus for a vehicle. SOLUTION: The periphery monitoring apparatus for cars is provided with the ultrasonic sensors 20-23 with a calculation function each having both a microphone 20d for transmitting ultrasonic waves to the periphery of a vehicle and receiving reflected ultrasonic waves of the transmitted ultrasonic waves and a LAN control circuit 20b for computing the distance to an obstruction in the periphery of the vehicle according to the received reflected ultrasonic waves. In the periphery monitoring apparatus for a vehicle, a power supply voltage is inputted to the ultrasonic sensors 20-23 with a calculation function in a daisy-chain manner, and the ultrasonic sensors 20-23 with a calculation function each has a regulator 20k for converting the inputted power supply voltage into a constant voltage and outputting it to the microphone 20d.
