PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize the return of a refrigerator oil in a preferred state in a case where a heat exchanger of parallel flow is utilized as a condenser or an evaporator. SOLUTION: The refrigerator oil 8 retained in an upper header 5 is returned to a lower header 2 through a pipe having a projecting length shorter than that of a flat pipe in the upper header 5, and the refrigerator oil 8 having a density higher than that of the overheated refrigerant gas 7 is returned to the lower header 2 through the pipe 9 by its gravity. In the case where the refrigerator oil 8 is dissolved in the refrigerant of gas-liquid two phases in a case where the heat exchanger is used as the evaporator, and dissolved in a liquid refrigerant component of the condensed refrigerant in a case where the heat exchanger is used as the condenser, to be circulated in a refrigerating cycle again to be properly returned, whereby the reliability of the compressor can be secured.
