In a carton having a plastics liner formed therein by deep drawing, the base of the carton has slots 7 or flaps 8a which when the carton and liner are formed in a mould having ridges corresponding to the slots 7 or flaps 8a permit ridges to be formed on the inside of the carton base. The ridges facilitate cutting of the product when removed from the carton. The thinness of of the liner facilitates expulsion of the product. The corners of the carton are open and are spanned by ribbed portions 15 of the liner. The liner is adhered to the carton by a heat sensitive lacquer. A lid 16 has a pull tab 17 and is located between two inwardly directed ribs on the carton. The carton and liner are formed by vacuum and/or pressure.
