The device for the moving of a construction unit (14) along tracks has a frame (11) which extends transversely across the rails (12,13) of the track, bears by its underside on the rails, and supports the modular unit. The frame is motor driven in the drive direction (16). The frame supports winch with a traction cable which by a fastening device is fastened further forward on the rail or sill in the working direction of the device. The traction cable (23) extends below or slightly above the plane formed by the upper side of the rail heads.
