The inventive machine is used for applying labels from a continuous polymer strip on cylinder or square-shaped containers and comprises a conveyor (2, 3), a vacuum drum (14) and devices for separating the containers, supplying (12, 13) the label strip (7) from a spool (6) to the vacuum drum, applying glue (15) on the strip surface, for cutting (17) said strip into separate labels and for pressing the label against the container. A drive sprocket (19) is disposed near the end section of the conveyor. Said machine is provided with a guiding element (18) which is embodied in the form of a rigid curved plate having rectilinear end parts and with a rigid lining plate (26) concentrically placed with respect to the vacuum drum, wherein the element (18) is mounted near the drum (14) and the conveyor (2), the sprocket (19) is arranged in front of the guiding element on the opposite side of the conveyor and the plate (26) is disposed in front of the drum (14) directly after the sprocket (19). The distance between said devices is selected such that each container positioned between the sprocket (19) and the element (18) and between the plate (26) and the drum (14), respectively is clamped therebetween. The sprocket (19) is provided with a device for adjusting the position thereof in two mutually perpendicular directions. The container being clamped directly before the drum (14) between two contact sleeves of the adjacent rays of the sprocket (19) and the concave surface of the element (18), it contacts said rigid element along three lines which are parallel to each other, thereby the container is moved to a label applying area only in a strictly vertical position. |
