<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method of dynamically switching a mode of making two devices utilize client and server functions and a mode of making one device utilize only the client function and making the other device utilize only the server function, in accordance with whether bidirectional communication is possible on a communication path between the devices. <P>SOLUTION: It is discriminated whether bidirectional communication is possible on a communication path between a digital camera 101 and a printer 102 which use a client-server system to perform communication, and the digital camera 101 and the printer 102 use both the client function and the server function to perform communication in the case that bidirectional communication is possible, whereas the digital camera 101 uses the client function and the printer 102 uses the server function to perform communication in the case that bidirectional communication is impossible. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
