<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine whether an article is genuine by simply determining the presence or absence of an identification material by changes in color or shading in an identification mark using, as an identification material, a substance in which the content ratio of a stable isotope is controlled to be different from that of a natural isotope. <P>SOLUTION: The identification mark for determining whether the article is genuine comprises the identification material comprising the substance in which the content ratio of the stable isotope is controlled to be different from that of the natural isotope. In this case, the mark is arranged, which indicates the presence of the identification material by change in color or shading due to increased temperature in the identification material caused by light radiation to the identification material.
