PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To more easily project a projected image having excellent image quality without causing distortion by a user by displaying a guide for making the user install and adjust a projection type display device in an optimum installation direction, at an installation tilt angle and on an installation position. SOLUTION: The guide for installing and adjusting the projection type display device 10 in the optimum installation direction, at the optimum installation tilt angle and on the optimum installation position by which the image having neither distortion, tilt nor positional deviation can be projected by deciding the distortion, the tilt and the positional deviation of the projected image by an image decision part 5 based on an image signal on a surface to be projected detected by an area sensor 4 installed in front of the device 10 is superimposed and displayed on the projected image by an OSD display part 6. The guide to designate the direction, the tilt and the direction of the position that the device 10 should be changed to the optimum installation direction, the optimum installation tilt angle and the optimum installation position, or the guide to show the deviation from the optimum installation direction, the optimum installation tilt angle and the optimum installation position concerning the present installation state of the device 10 is displayed by using an icon including an arrow icon and a character as the guide.
