When transferring vertical motion into rotary motion as in pedaling a bicycle, only up to two thirds of the energy input are converted into motion. There is always a loss of energy even under optimal conditions. The new design of a device suitable for the transfer of vertical motion into rotary motion comprises two levers joined with a transversal element and moving alternating vertically along the outer surfaces of two wheels in order to create a direct transfer of energy.
