PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of splicing a photonic crystal optical fiber of which the core and the clad have the same refractive index, with a normal single mode optical fiber, and to provide an optical connector. SOLUTION: In a splice end of the photonic crystal optical fiber 11 having a plurality of pores around the core, the pores 13 near the splicing end 12 are filled up with a light-transmissive substance such as a resin 14 with a refractive index lower than a quartz material, or glass.
