PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sliding door closing device which is applicable to sliding doors of different storage furniture such as a sideboard, a book shelf, and a showcase, wherein the sliding door closing device is arranged near a door closing end of the sliding door to forcedly draw the sliding door to the door closing end, and wherein the sliding door closing device functions to decelerate the speed of the door as appropriate immediately before closure of the door, to thereby achieve good door closing operation. SOLUTION: According to the structure of the sliding door closing device, a hook member 2 is rotatably mounted on a sliding member 1 which slides in an appropriate region in a casing A arranged at an end of a guide rail 17, and the sliding member 1 is energized toward the door closing side via an energizing member 3. Then a guide traveling body B traveling along the guide rail 17 is moved from an engagement with the hook member 2 through the sliding region of the sliding member 1 in a door closing direction, by resistance T generated by a cushioning member 4 for decreasing elastic force of the elastic member 3.
