PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire not only having conventional stone-bite prevention performance but also reducing damage to a tread even if the tire once bites stones. SOLUTION: In the pneumatic tire 1 having a main groove 3 extending to the tire peripheral direction on the tread 2, at least one projection 4 obliquely projecting toward a tread surface side is formed on at least one side wall of the main groove 3, and the projection length Q of the groove bottom side of the projection 4 is set to be longer than the length q along the groove wall from a root of the projection to the groove bottom center.
