摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable eliminating the format loss caused by the head gaps of a combination head. SOLUTION: Sector data written in a disk is read out by a read-head 121 of a combination head 12-i, and a sync-mark is detected from the sector data by a SM detector 214. A read-channel 21 demodulates user data succeeding to the detected sync-mark and outputs it to a HDC 50. A sequencer 51 measures data length of preamble data preceding the detected sync-mark as read-preamble data length. The sequencer 51 obtains the head gap length of the head 12-i based on data length of preamble data in the sector data to be written in the disk , write-path delay quantity in a write-channel 22, the read-preamble data length, and read-path delay quantity in the read-channel 21.
