PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for controlling a novel and improved disk drive, capable of performing adaptive and flexible error correction without changing firmware in a data storage device. SOLUTION: The control method of this invention is including about step which saves two or more retry tables for adata storage means to be the control method for performing error correction in disk in disk drive of disk drive in data storage means, and to save firmware and retry table while read and wright data from disk. step which chooses any or one of two or more above mentioned retry tables used for error correction.
