PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet feeding device capable of shortening action time by reducing useless action when power is applied. SOLUTION: In accordance with situations of a document tray 22 when power is applied, up/down moving action of the document tray 22 is controlled. In a case where the document tray 22 is at an intermediate position, other than the uppermost position or the lowest position, when power is applied, up/down moving action of the document tray 22 is not performed, but it is kept at its position. In a case where the document tray 22 is at the uppermost position, the document tray 22 is moved down.
