PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid electrolytic capacitor which corresponds to the high-frequency responsiveness of a semiconductor component, has a large capacitance, and is highly reliable. SOLUTION: This solid electrolytic capacitor is provided with an outer shell 6 in which porous valve metal foil provided with a porous layer 2 on the surface of an aluminum layer 1 is exposed on one end face of the outer peripheral section of a capacitor element, and part of a current collecting material layer 4 is exposed on the other end face of the outer peripheral section. In the capacitor element, a dielectric coating film, a solid electrolyte layer 3, and the current collecting material layer 4 are successively formed on the surface of the porous valve metal foil. In the solid electrolytic capacitor provided with external electrodes on both end faces of the outer shell 6, a zinc layer 7 is formed on the exposed surface of the exposed porous valve metal foil, and a nickel layer 8 is formed on the zinc layer 7.
