The draw-off rollers 312 of an open-end spinning device are arranged close to the end of the withdrawal tube 6 so that when the machine is stopped the yarn is held in the tube 6. The rollers are arranged to be separable so that the end may be drawn back into the spinning device. The rollers shrould be less than a third the length of the withdrawal tube from the opening of the withdrawal tube. As shown the rollers are preferably mounted on stub axles to facilitate threading up. A sensor may be situated in the withdrawal tube to stop the machine, including the draw off rollers, should the yarn break. In Fig. 3 not shown a yarn breakage detector in tube (6) causes a solenoid (32) to move the rollers apart and causes a further solenoid (36) to rotate a lever and thus allow a yarn reserve to be drawn back through the rollers. In Fig. 4 not shown, a solenoid (33) moves through a first distance to lift the draw-off rollers out of contact with their driving drum (310) and then through a further distance to separate the two rollers. The end of the withdrawal tube may be funnel shaped to facilitate the initial threading up of the device. |
