PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector having a tilt angle measuring apparatus with a simple configuration capable of accurately measuring a tilt angle of a screen with respect to a projection optical axis of the projector for distortion correction of a video image. SOLUTION: A test pattern generating section 54 projects a horizontally linear test pattern to a projection screen through a projection lens 21 from the projector 20, an imaging element 52 of a digital camera 50 disposed apart from an upper part of the projection lens 21 in a vertical direction images the test pattern of the projection screen, an image analysis tilt angle calculation section 53 acquires differential number of pixel information in the lateral direction of the test pattern to generate a horizontal direction tilt angle between the projection optical axis of the projector 20 and the projection screen, acquires a vertical direction tilt angle of the projector 20 from a vertical direction tilt sensor 40, and an image control section 23 controls an output video image of an image display section 22 on the basis of both the acquired tilt angles to correct distortion of an image on the projection screen.
