<p>Producing metal complexes of azo compounds (I) with a dispersion hardness above 250, optionally containing an intercalated compound (II), comprises reacting (I) with a metal salt and optionally (II) in water and optionally an organic solvent to form an aqueous suspension with a dispersion hardness of at least 250 (measured according to DIN 53775) and a metal complex concentration of at least 6 wt.%, and heat-treating the suspension.
