<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sliding member superior in cavitation resistance. <P>SOLUTION: This sliding member has a recess 2 formed on a sliding surface side of a bearing alloy layer 1, an intermediate layer 3 made of Ni or a Ni alloy provided in the recess 2, and a soft layer 4 made of pure Sn or an Sn alloy provided on the intermediate layer 3. The sliding member also has a structure containing a projecting compound 5 which is formed so as to project into the soft layer 4 from the intermediate layer 3 by heat treatment. The projecting compound 5 projects from the intermediate layer 3 having adequate adhesiveness with the bearing alloy layer 1, and has the superior adhesiveness to the intermediate layer 3 as well because of being formed by diffusion, so that the compound shows an anchoring effect and has the effect of preventing the soft layer 4 from peeling off. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
