PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piezoelectric actuator which can be easily screened for defectiveness.

SOLUTION: The piezoelectric actuator comprises piezoelectric ceramic layers and internal electrodes. The piezoelectric ceramic layers have a translucency capable of making at least part of the internal electrodes visible. It is preferred that the piezoelectric actuator consists of a piezoelectric laminate wherein the piezoelectric ceramic layers and the internal electrodes are alternately laminated.
