<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus capable of more appropriately adjusting a sharpness by taking into account a combination of a characteristic of an MTF filter and a threshold value of multi-value (binary) processing as a factor influencing the sharpness in the image quality. <P>SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus attains proper sharpness adjustment depending on variations in the combination by setting an MTF filter coefficient to a character image for varying edge emphasis to an MTF filter processing 202 and setting a threshold value selected by a user operation among variable threshold values for binary (gradation processing) processing without losing the resolution to an error spread processing 204. In addition, the image processing apparatus attains sharpness adjustment to a photograph image by selecting a smoothing filter coefficient for varying smoothness in a smooth filter processing and a variable dither threshold value influencing the resolution in a dither processing. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
