PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piston of an internal combustion engine in which seizure of a piston can be prevented even though the peripheral part of the connection of slipper parts in a piston skirt is outwardly deformed. SOLUTION: In the piston of the internal combustion engine having slipper parts formed projectingly downward on the sides orthogonal to piston holes in the piston skirt, recesses are formed on the outward peripheral face around the connection parts on both sides of the slipper parts in the piston skirt.
