PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner prevented from scattering dust on a floor surface and exhibit an improved exhaust efficiency. SOLUTION: The vacuum cleaner 1 cools a cord reel chamber 17 by supplying the exhaust air of an electric blower 19 to the cord reel chamber 17 adjacent to a motor chamber 16 and has a rear cover 13 covering the rears of the motor chamber 16 and the cord reel chamber 17. A cord outlet 23 to extract a power cord 21 is provided in the upper portion of the rear cover 13, a slope 13b facing a cord reel 20 is provided below the cord outlet 23 and a vent hole 24 communicating with the outside is formed on the slope 13b.
