PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device capable of picking up high-definition wide-angle image by drastically improving the low pixel utilization efficiency which becomes a problem in omni-azimuth imaging using a rectangular imaging device. SOLUTION: An omni-azimuth image formed on a (doughnut-like) object side end face 15 of an optical fiber array 13 is emitted from an approximately rectangular imaging device side end face 16 to a rectangular imaging device 11, and the picked-up image is converted in accordance with an image pickup signal of the object side end face, thereby using all the area of the imaging device 11 as an effective area.
