WET ELECTROPHOTOGRAPHIC TONER COMPOSITION, METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME, AND METHOD FOR FORMING ELECTROPHOTOGRAPHIC IMAGE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wet toner composition having a polymer binder which is chemically grown in the form of copolymer binder particles dispersed in a liquid carrier. SOLUTION: The toner composition contains a polymer binder including an amphipathic copolymer comprising one or more S (solvated) material portions and one or more D (dispersed) material portions, with the component of the polymer binder comprising sufficient crosslinking functional groups to provide a three-dimensional gel having controlled rigidity which can be reversibly changed into a fluid state by addition of energy. The toner composition is particularly suitable for an electrophotographic process of transferring an image on the photoconductor surface to an intermediate transfer material or directly transferring the image to a printing medium without forming a film on the photoconductor.
