PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for binding an activator to a keratinous substance, especially hair so as to sustain the activator's advantages for a long period. SOLUTION: A cosmetic composition, comprises a biotin compound and/or complexing agent and at least one cosmetic activator covalently bonded to one or both of the above two compounds, wherein one or both of these two compounds has at least one reactive chemically functional group covalently bonded to the hair. A method for hair treatment based on these compounds is also provided, intending to produce deposits of a substance on hair fiber imparting new cosmetic properties to the hair. Thus, the deposits which are persistent to hair rinsing, do not degrade the hair fibers, are removable as desired, and are optionally crosslinkable can be produced on the hair.
